Direct bus Phnom Penh - Pailin?
Re: Direct bus Phnom Penh - Pailin?
If you are going to Chanburi it is much easier to go via Koh Kong. Get a morning bus from PP eg https://www.virakbuntham.com/# I think the bus goes on from the KK bus terminal to the border. Otherwise its 10 min by moto or tuk tuk.mgb wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 4:28 pmMany thanks for your help.armchairlawyer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 2:37 pm I have done this route but not recently. Big buses run from PP to Pailin, but not to the border. To reach Prum, you need to get a seat in a share taxi from Battambang, or a motodop from Pailin. In Battamabang you can look for a share taxi at the corner of Road number 5 and street 112.
There was a thread on this border crossing not so long ago which has better information.
BTW, once you cross the border, transport options are limited - there is a minibus that runs to Chantaburi. It ferries Thais doing day trips to the casino at the border. But you would probably arrive too late for that if you coming from PP. Also, you have to pay the return fare for the minibus even though you are only going one way!
Do you remember the name of bus operator that runs big buses for Phnom Penh- Pailin route? I dont mind taking tuk tuk (or motodop or shared taxi) to Prum once i get to Pailin as I knew it not a popular route for travelers.
To be honest, i dont want to take shared taxi from Battambang to Pailin (or in general, "shared taxi" for long trip in Cambodia) as i got horrible experience last time from Sihanoukville to Koh Kong. That's why i prefer professional bus operators for PP - Pailin route (or Battambang - Pailin)
I haven't heard about difficult transport in Thai side. You're right at that i would arrive too late for minibus to Chataburi (that's also what i thought). BTW, is it easy to find hotel for one night in Ban Packard?
It's about 100 mtrs from Cambodia immigration to Thai immigration. Walk about 100 metres into Thai and you will see some vans to Trat. They run all day. Lots of transport from Trat to Chanburi. It is a one day trip.

You quite right on Koh Kong. That's much easier as having a lot of bus options. I crossed it one time from Chanthaburi to Phnom Penh. That's why this time, i wanna try another checkpoint (i love to go overland).
The point we want for this trip is: we want to reach Bangkok in daytime to maximize our time there. Then:
If we cross Koh Kong (that all buses depart in early morning), the trip could take 13-14 hours so we would be in BKK at 8pm (waste one day)
Poipet not on my list for its bad hassle and horror. Direct buses from Phnom Penh to Pailin are not recommended and not many options to choose.
After researching on all advices, we think about night bus from Phnom Penh to Battambang at first step and then taking bus /songteaw /tuk tuk /motodop from Battambang to Pailin (or for the best, to Phsar Prum or Daung Checkpoint). That's why i need info of bus operators running Battambang - Pailin.

OP, that’s a good plan. And the border crossing at Prum is a delight compared to the alternatives.
I recommend the Asia Hotel in. Battambang. Nice place and very close to the taxi station, if that’s what you want.
