PM urges Chinese investors to keep calm amid potential EBA removal
PM urges Chinese investors to keep calm amid potential EBA removal
Khmer times:
In February, the EU started a six-month process of intense monitoring and engagement that could lead to the temporary suspension of Cambodia’s preferential access to the bloc’s market under the EBA trade scheme.
In a Facebook post issued shortly after a meeting with Chinese investors in Phnom Penh’s Peace Palace, Mr HE urged Chinese firms to continue business as usual regardless of the outcome of the EBA issue.

Don't worry, just put your money in, EBA not going to have any negative impact, you wouldn't even able to notice its impact.

America expects the EU to carry on the Iran War.
EU is going slow on that one.
I don't think that the EU wants to hear that America expects
them to open a front on china.

Interesting viewpoint can we clarify?J. Visiting wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 1:50 pm America expects the EU to carry on the Iran War.

The EBA has nothing to do with the US and the Iran War isn't Cambodia brother- this is conflation
There are two factors
1. The agreement IS linked to human rights and as Cambodia's 1st or 2nd highest paying customer for exports (EU and US), like any customer, wants to know that the goods it buys are somewhat ethical.
2. Cambodia is now a lower middle income country, so its status as an LDC is no longer valid and therefore under review
If you look at the Balance of Trade statistics China fleeces Cambodia whereas the West pays hard cash for actual goods produced by ordinary people.
The actual cash in the people's pockets comes from the West
