Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

So the poor guy is a victim and the lady that lent him money is the evil one according to him. I hope she uses his violin for kindling for her stove.

That didn't happen.

And if it did, it wasn't that bad.

And if it was, that's not a big deal.

And if it is, that's not my fault.

And if it was, I didn't mean it.

And if I did...

You deserved it.

'Mirab Babaian was signed to a contract at CIS to work as a Strings Tutor and Music Assistant. Every teacher at CIS is fully qualified and certified and each one complies with legal requirements in Cambodia for employment. Mr. Babaian also represented a local company that supplied our school with string instruments. Our school paid fully for these instruments as per the company instructions and were not involved in any discussions with the company beyond this. We trust that this clarifies our school's relationship with Mr. Babaian, and hope that the larger situation is resolved amicably for all parties involved. We appreciate the interest in our school and welcome all families to come and visit our campus to find out more about the programs, facilities, and dedicated staff we have to offer to the Phnom Penh community.'
Looks a great school...

Kudos for clarifying and ending the situation professionally.

Good luck with your music classes

Mirab Babaian has also reached out to CEO. He has said that CIS did, in fact, pay him for some musical instruments, but he did not represent the company and was just the middleman and gave the money he received to the company. He says the money he borrowed to buy instruments with were for some other instruments that the school decided not to buy because they were not exactly what they were looking for (and he says it was probably his fault that he bought the wrong instruments from Malaysia, but the seller is returning his money, but not all at once, but just a few hundred dollars at a time. He says his intentions were never to rip off anyone, but since he was unable to sell the instruments he bought to CIS, this has caused a delay in paying the money that he borrowed back, and the woman he borrowed the money from is making a big deal over nothing. He also said he has not exited the country since his visa expired earlier this year, and as of right now, he is still here on an expired visa, and is not exactly sure what he will do. He said the woman has kept all of his stuff, including some very valuable instrument that belongs to a school.

Every time a teacher at a school does something embarrassing or criminal, the school claims "Well, yes, he was here at our school, and he was teaching for us, for a time, but we didn't really employ him as a teacher."

I dunno which is worse - his violin playing or his annoying voice. 'Money isn't everything' garbage - typical scammer victim blaming rubbish.

Still no visa I guess. No work and owes the lady.

Pictured down at Wat Phnom at skank happy hour too.

Sigh....
