Cambodia Breaking News (Phnom Penh): On September 25, 2019, at 10:00 am, a 32-year-old Nigerian man, KINGSLEY UGONNA UGWUANYI , went to the Investigation and Procedure Office at the Immigration Department asking for help to send him back to his country.

The Nigerian man came to Cambodia as a tourist on September 29, 2015, through Phnom Penh International Airport. He worked as an English teacher and stayed in a rented house in Chom Chao area. His visa expired on June 17, 2017, but ever since then, he cannot get enough money to renew his visa, so he decided to go to the Cambodian immigration authorities to ask them to send him home.

The Nigerian man was therefore sent to the Immigration Department to follow the legal procedure.

What's wrong with some people, if you haven't got the money to travel, STAY home. Shorely he had a return ticket ,don't immigration on arrival check and see if they have return ticket and enough cash ,to cover there stay. I would rather stay in cambodia, than go back to Nigeria. Dumb mongrel

A few days languishing in their detention centre might make him question his whizzbang idea of scrounging a free ticket home.

It will be interesting to keep an eye on this case...

So working as an English teacher he couldn’t make enough to renew his visa, and subsequently overstated by 2 years (definitely can’t pay is overstay fees, either). Does that mean teaching English in Cambodia pays so little that it doesn’t even pay for a visa extension?

Isn’t there a supposedly bulletproof member of CEO in a similar situation?

Bad pun on me.

Perhaps he has a Khmer princess with big dreams of life on a new continent and we all know that drains the Ole bank account. Or perhaps he is the kind of teacher that is not in it only for the money. You know, the kind of teacher that really cares about teaching English. Perhaps he does t have a wealthy family to bankroll his hopes and dreams.

The Cambodian authorities probably wont pay for a ticket to Nigeria just Bangkok. The Thais will refuse him entry and send him back. Could be a long stay in immgration!
