Nokor Tep Women's Hospital; New in Phnom Penh

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

A new hospital for Cambodian women cancer patients and gynaecological care opened in Phnom Penh this year. It seems like a good step forward for women's health care in Cambodia. They have a lot of ambition and want to teach skills at the hospital, but also plan to open mobile outreach clinics for women in the provinces.

This was news to me. I found out about the Nokor Tep Women's Hospital through this news article: https://www.cloverdalereporter.com/comm ... a-rebuild/
The hospital was founded by Janne Ritskes, who also runs NGO Tabitha Cambodia, together with Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, the Cambodian Minister for Women’s affairs.
If anyone has any information or comments on the hospital and services, please post.

From their website:
Mission/Vision of the Nokor Tep Women’s Hospital
The vision for Nokor Tep Women’s Hospital is based on an issue of justice and equity, a vision evolving from a view of basic human rights. In Cambodia, as in many developing countries, women are seen as the least valuable assets of society despite the fact that women are the foundation of homes and society. A direct result of this is that women’s personal health issues are of little concern. This results in immense suffering amongst women here – suffering that is silent – suffering that eventually costs the family dearly and undermines the strength of society.

The Nokor Tep Women’s Hospital has a clear and comprehensive vision. Currently, less than 7% of the rural population has access to medical care. It is also very clear that 90% of the women in Cambodia suffer from long term gynecological infections of various kinds. Our vision is to have a women’s hospital that is focused on gynecological issues and women’s cancers thereby alleviating the silent suffering of the vast majority of women in Cambodia.

I guess they’re looking for extra funding making statements like that.

Wow...

A truly impressive achievement and a giant leap forward for Cambodia.

2% for admin puts all other so called charities and NGO's to shame.

The lady who did it receives 10,000 CND a year stipend and she did all that.

I have the utmost respect and admiration for this lady, and i'll happily donate and have my name on the wall of caring.

Thanks CEO for this great post
