Phnom Penh will see a steady rise in the supply of condominium units in the next ten years, reaching 295,000 in 2030, according to VTrust Appraisal.

“People, particularly the younger generation, want privacy. They don’t want to live in crowded spaces. This is why they are moving from traditional houses to condos. People still like living in traditional houses, but, if they can afford them, they will choose condos,” he said, adding that this an important factor driving growth in the sector.

Having recently rented an apartment my impression is there are a lot of empty units. My building is about 1/3rd full and a friend living in a larger complex says its about the same for him.

I doubt a lot of the forcasted buidings will make it to 2030.

Fund all the construction by pre-sales to Cambodia's emerging middle class, following the practice of developers in China. What could possibly go wrong?

Most of complex was meant for Chinese to move in, however...after supposed lessee moved in, they learned that, same price they rent aa Condo, with some time cost, they can rent a twin villa, sooo..why bother to rent Condo.
