Malindo Air. Avoid the fucktardery.

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

I read earlier this year that AAsia was going to enforce the 7kg limit for carry-on.
Has anybody run into this?

Yeah once... my bag was 9 kilos at the time... my main concern is if they do the combined weight of my back pack n camera bag... i rarely need much in my back pack, but my camera bag is often pretty heavy

I put camera gear, binoculars and other small heavy stuff in a 10 or 15 litre dry bag.
Half full, over my shoulder, sitting in the small of my back, nobody has ever asked, ever.
Computer bag - go books, mags, papers. or a tight stack of well folded cotton clothes. (heavy)
No body ever weighs computer bag.
Regularly put up to 20 k's in back pack, occasionally get questioned. Not at check-in, but at entry into Departure area.
Lucky and have charmed my way thru, so far.
But i worry about a crack down. luggage is bloody expeno these days.

Got away with 7.8kg earlier in the year, but yes, Air Asia has become more stringent out of Perth in the last twelve months. There's even a scale at the door of the gate now in Perth which I've never seen before. Personally, I'm still yet to be weighed for carry-on in Asia,

I just checked.
If i buy my cheapest commonly available fare from CityX to Phnom Penh, Air Asia.
20 kg luggage will cost me exactly 30% of the fare. !!!

Personally i reckon us skinny blokes should get some kilo credits for not being a fat bum.

I've flown with them twice with zero issues. I think KMT airport is partly to blame. It's a total shitshow that makes PP airport look modern and smooth running.

As a traveling salesman here in Asia I try my best to avoid any Indonesia airline whenever I can including their national airline Garuda.
