Eradicating Rabies From Cambodia
Re: Eradicating Rabies From Cambodia
"The team mark dogs once they've been vaccinated, to avoid double shots"
Presumably that's why loads of the local dogs seem to have blue splodges on them this week

Re: Eradicating Rabies From Cambodia
I read at some time over the last 60 years, that rabies would be the worst known pandemic, if it was easier to catch. Once it is diagnosed, it is almost always too late. ~99% fatalities.
If it was more prevalent, we would be in a land of zombies.

That's the catch. You need a scratch, bite, or lick (on an open wound) from an infected animal. It's the perfect virus, but luckily it spreads not so easily.Pseudonomdeplume wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 7:00 pm I read at some time over the last 60 years, that rabies would be the worst known pandemic, if it was easier to catch. But you can up your 99% fatality rate. AFAIK only one person survived and when they tried the treatment he received on others they couldn't repeat the result. So count on sure death if you don't act very fast.

Yes, depends a bit on the severity of the wound, the vaccine used and your medical history with rabies.Pseudonomdeplume wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 11:57 am3 or 4 visits to the doctor for an injection, I believe, as soon as you are bitten collect or whatever.Kammekor wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 8:27 pmThat's the catch.
