It's the same in South Korea and the Philippines. The idea is to raise revenue without destroying the social fabric of your own country.Wolf359 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 1:39 pmSo you're telling me it's legal for casinos to operate in Cambodia, legal for Cambodians to work in said casinos, but it's illegal for them to be gamble in those very same casinos that's nuts. But hey, not my country not my rules. I guess it doesn't have to make sense to me

Good thing there's nothing really serious going on like, traffic accidents, drug dealing or murder.
What kind of idiot calls the police over a card game?

Re: The Crackdown Continues on Cambodian People Playing Cards
Some disgruntled neighbor who lost their shirt the day before. The funny thing is that if you go down any of the alleys between the blocks in the center city there are always bunches of people playing cards. Some places have all these numbers on chalkboards and sell tickets or whatnot. Arresting these old yays with their 200,000 riel pot isn't really going to do much. The cops seem to nab plenty of motorbikes no matter what they are doing though.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
