Cambodia News, (Tbongkmum province): On the afternoon of August 8th, 2021, a group of people who gathered together to play the Cisongmom game in the rubber forest in Songm Meanchey village, Tbongmom province, escaped from a police raid.

Deputy General Yon Heang said that when he led his forces to crackdown on the illegal game, the gambling addicts all ran away into the rubber plantation, leaving a cover, a blanket, a pack of cards,two pairs of shoes, and a plastic chair.

The officer said it's very sad that police force didn't arrest the card players for breaking the law and educate them about the Covid-19 regulations that are in place for the health of the general population.

Addicted Cards Players Finally Get Caught

Cambodia News (Kandal Province): On August 19, 2021, at 15:35 pm, the Kompong Phnum police raided a house belonging to Mel Sopy in Kompong Po village, Kompong Phnom commune, Leuk Daek district, and detained 5 women for playing cards. The detained suspects were Mel Sopy, 56 years old, Sat Ty, 36 years old, Vorn Nheb, 51 years old, Phat Mab, 33 years old, and Heng Sieng Ngo, 54 years old.

The police also seized several decks of cards, 2 Oppo smartphones, and 102,500 riels (about US $25). The women were questioned by the police and signed an agreement to stop gambling in the future.

"Apple" Players Arrested

Cambodia News, (Battambang): On August 19, 2021, at the mouth of the river in Kdol village, Sangkat Kdol Daun Teav, Battambang city, Battambang province, following the instructions of Major General Sat Kimsan, the Director of the Minor Criminal Police Office, led the Intervention team to crack down on a case of local men who were gambling in a betting game known as "Apple"*.

3 men were arrested and taken to the Battambang Provincial Police Station for questioning.

Police forces encircle women playing cards at Phnom Penh's Old Market

Cambodia Breaking News, (Phnom Penh): In a breaking news report from DaunPenh this afternoon, Colonel Teang Chansar said that on the afternoon of February 9, 2022 at 15:10 pm, Daun Penh District Police Inspectorate Forces cooperated with Daun Penh District Unity Command Forces in an operation to prevent gambling at the Old Market, near Wat Phnom.

Trained forces launched a crack down on illegal gambling (playing cards) at stalls 524, 525, 73, 502, in the Old Market, where they arrested 9 women in their pyjamas and confiscated 17 playing cards which were seized as evidence.

None of the card players managed to escape the police net, and all the women were taken down to the Daun Penh station for name and shame mugshots.

Cambodia News, (Battambang Province): A total of 8 people, men and women, were arrested by the police force of Bawel District of Battambang Province and sent for questioning after investigation in the case of illegal gambling, on the morning of Saturday, June 25, 2020. The gamblers were all caught red-handed, and police made a full house.

General Sok Sarin, from the Police Department of Bawel District, said that he led his forces to crack down on a group of villagers who were playing the gambling game of "Apong", at Kdol Tahen Commune, Bawel District, Battambang Province. They were taken to the police station to follow the legal procedures.

probably a dumb question but---- can card games be played if no gambling is involved? or is it all frowned upon ? UNO card game would be an example I could suggest

I would agree , dumb question , because if there was anybody ever arrested for just playing cards , they would have picked it up and reported it here , or _ would link you to , assinein section , or dark net , which i’m not privy to .Image
