Phnom Penh, Cambodia Breaking News: Preliminary reports say that there has been a huge fire, with clouds of black smoke rising in Chamroeun Phal Village, Sangkat Boeung Tumpun. There is no known cause yet, and several police and firefighting interventions are taking place this afternoon. The fire broke out in a mattress factory.

NOTE: As of 1:45 pm on the same day, all power lines in the above area were temporarily disconnected for safety reasons.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia Breaking News: As of 6 pm on 23 August 2019, the fire burning at the mattress factory in Chamroeun village, Sangkat Boeng Tum I, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh, in front of the Russian Hospital has not been extinguished.
Authorities in all departments and hundreds of rescue crews have been trying to put out the fire for several hours since the incident occurred around 2 pm. Authorities said the burning six-story concrete building has collapsed, but so far no casualties were reported, with authorities temporarily evacuating residents from the site.

if that factory was full of the crap that goes into typical local mattresses it might be burning for a while
on the other hand i can't see how typical (masonry) residences burn at all
there's often nothing in them at all except a hammock and a mattre . . .

It seems 3 properties destroyed and large power outages our power was restored 4.30am I understand nobody was killed it looks like the surrounding area was lucky and not more buildings lost.

UPDATE: Phnom Penh: The six-storey factory that was engulfed by fire on August 23, 2019, is being demolished for safety reasons.

The Joint Commission, chaired by HE Kun Kim, decided to demolish the burnt out building this afternoon, before it starts to collapse.
