British MMA Fighter GLEN BAILEY Arrested in Thailand Over Attempted Murder Case in the UK

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

A British mixed martial arts fighter wanted in England on a charge of attempted murder has been arrested at a health spa in Pattaya, Chon Buri, and faces extradition.

Glen Bailey, 43, was taken into custody at Q Sauna on Jomtien Sai 2 Road in tambon Nong Prue, Pol Lt Gen Sompong Chingduang, commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, told reporters on Thursday.

He said British authorities had asked Thai authorities for cooperation. The suspect is accused of the attempted murder of a 17-year-old.

Bailey, who won an MMA title in his hometown, allegedly shot the teenager in Hampshire on Feb 10 last year. The youth was left paralysed from the waist down.

Bailey had entered Thailand on April 3 through the Ban Pakkad checkpoint in Chanthaburi on a tourist visa which expired on May 2. He gave an address in Pattaya.
When they tracked him down to the Q Sauna on Jomtien Sai 2 Road and showed the arrest warrant, he did not resist.

Hampshire Police in the UK have reached out to CEO and sent us this:

We are aware a 43 year old man has been arrested in Thailand.

Hampshire Constabulary has yet to verify the identity of this man and whether he is linked to an attempted murder investigation in the UK.

The investigation relates to an incident in which a 19 year old man was shot in Hearsey Gardens, Blackwater. The 19 year old was subsequently left paralysed from the waist down.

A 17 year old man from Blackwater has been charged with attempted murder and is due to stand trial at Winchester Crown Court on October 2.

A 51 year old woman, also from Blackwater, was summonsed to court for assisting an offender. A warrant was issued for the arrest of a 42 year old man from Farnborough, after he failed to appear at court having been summonsed for assisting an offender.

Officers are in touch with the Thai authorities to formally establish the identity of the man in custody.
