University fees in Cambodia
Any idea what the fees are like at the better Universities here? I know (or at least I think I know) that there aren't really any of international standing, but at one of the better ones where someone who was planning to be a school-teacher would go. For a Cambodian- not for me.

Re: University fees in Cambodia
The websites for the universities have their tuition on them. For teaching, I would suggest IFL. They have programs that couple with Korean and Japanese universities.
IFL is part of "RUPP" which is the Royal University of Phnom Penh. http://www.rupp.edu.kh/ifl/
I did a quick google search and this is what I found for the tuition rates:
Department of Biology Bachelor of Science in Biology US$300/year
Department of Chemistry Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry
Bachelor of Science in Food Technology US$300/year
Department of Computer Science Bachelor of Science in Computer Science US$450/year
Department of English, IFL Bachelor of Arts in English US$450/year
Department of French, IFL Bachelor of Arts in French Please contact department
Department of Geography & Land Management Bachelor of Arts in Geography US$250/year
Department of History Bachelor of Arts in History US$250/year
Department of Khmer Literature Bachelor of Arts in Khmer Literature US$250/year
Department of Mathematics Bachelor of Science in Mathematics US$250/year
Department of Philosophy Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy US$250/year
Department of Physics Bachelor of Arts in Physics US$250/year
Department of Psychology Bachelor of Arts in Psychology US$250/year
Department of Sociology Bachelor of Arts in Sociology US$250/year

Re: University fees in Cambodia
^^ Thanks, guess was a bit lazy of me not to google first. Those fees seem lower than I expected.
Also curious about what if anything the University's offer in terms of accomodation for students from out of town. Or do students just get together and share apartments/houses- what we would call flatting.

Those Uni fees sound cheap when you compare it to ordinary school fees. I pay for 2 girls English ( 8 and 10 ) in the morning which costs $355 for one term,, total $1420 per year and 3 girls Khmer in the afternoon, $448 per term total cost $1792 per year., and one girl at a Chinese school $220 per year mornings only.
Add to that books $ 120,, school clothes, shoes , daily allowance, total $6 a day. For the 3 of them.
And you wonder why I can not afford to buy you a beer.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.

Inexpensive but not necessarily cheap. My daughter pays aorund $800 /year at a community college in Ca, where she is studying for her RN,( 2 year course)Duncan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 8:57 am Those Uni fees sound cheap when you compare it to ordinary school fees. Compare that to what I paid for her HS at an international school, ( $10-12,000/year) america can be a great deal

Re: University fees in Cambodia
From my experience with co-workers, many students get jobs as teacher assistants or child care assistants. It pays $150-200+ a month, but a single room apartment can be as cheap at $50 a month. The universities have different schedules for classes. These schedules include evening courses for those that work full time. The downside is that some schools are not too accommodating to the person's schedule... Westline owned (Westline, Appletree, and Forest Hill) schools in particular from my experience. I recall a teacher assistant, who was also attending university, was getting asked to work extra hours without overtime pay. Due to this stigma about saying "no" to the boss here in Cambodia, she kept doing this until her grades started to fail. It came down to her father putting his foot down and telling her to stop working and just go to school full time.bittermelon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 8:30 am ^^ Thanks, guess was a bit lazy of me not to google first.
