Chinese Passengers Accused of Throwing Bricks at Tuktuk Driver
Phnom Penh, Cambodia Breaking News: A fight broke out between a tuktuk driver and two Chinese passengers at 12:30 am on August 21, 2019, outside the Princes Plaza building, along Norodom Blvd in Chamkar Mon district, when there was a dispute over the fare.
According to the driver of the 'Indian' tuktuk, Sin Sopha, 41, there was a disagreement about the fare, the Chinese men got angry, and then they attacked him with bricks. The Chinese say that the driver struck one of them with a baton first, and they then retaliated. Both sides had injuries.
Eventually, the Tonle Bassac authorities arrived on the scene, where they arrested and detained all of the participants and took them to the police station for questioning.
The tuk-tuk driver has lodged a legal complaint at the Bassac River police post against the two Chinese men.

Re: Chinese Passengers Accused of Throwing Bricks at Tuktuk Driver
The dispute occurred when the Chinese men wanted to extend their ride and pay only $1 extra to the driver. Since we don't know how far they wanted to go, it is impossible to say which side was being unreasonable in the negotiation.
However, the escalation of the verbal disagreement to physical violence by the Chinese passengers is disgraceful.
The witness reported that before the incident, the victim agreed to take two Chinese men from AEON mall to the Prince Plaza Center. But when they reached the destination, the Chinese men argued with the tuk-tuk driver to take them to another place, but they wanted to pay only 1 USD extra. The victim didn't agree, so the Chinese men took four bricks to attack him.

Seems these Chinese are nothing but problems for tuk tuk drivers. Either they're getting their bags snatched or lobbing bricks.
If I were a TT driver, I'd decline their custom.
