Man Dies After Falling Through Hospital Roof

Cambodia Breaking News (Phnom Penh): A 37-year-old man, Ly Dany, a director of construction work, died after falling from Chor Rai hospital building, on August 13, 2019, on street 1, Beung Chok village, Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh.

According to a construction worker, before the incident, the victim told four workers to take a cable cart with him to the glass roof. The victim used a wrench to remove the hex nut on the glass roof, but he couldn't take it off, so he used a tool to hit it. Suddenly, the glass roof shattered and the victim fell through the roof. The victim was taken to hospital but died in the emergency room.

After the incident, the police went to the scene and examined the body. The body was then returned to the family for funeral preparations.

A harness and safety line could have prevented this accident. I shake my head every time I look at the way basic safety procedures aren't implemented on construction sites.

If a guy never had adequate training and wasn't provided with a safety harness or job risk analysis, this is the outcome.

I'd assume he was balancing on the steel frame to the front of the canopy and maybe leaning out to whack the fastener when the plate broke and he slipped.

Preventable accident. His employer should have some liability here.
