When cars are too expensive

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I have thought about making something like this, but I probably never will. You could make it pedal with electric assist, and the roof could be solar panels.

You could even make it with a back seat, and a space for luggage, and call it an environmentally friendly alternative to a tuk tuk.
We call them Rosalie or Cuistax in French, and Gowes in Indonesian. Check out these, people have actually fun to rent and ride them, around the Sultan's palace ! It has become a good little business, affordable stuff and quick small money to be done. Well, at 60.000 rp (4 $) for a car with 15 mn ride, and no fuel to refill, it's actually a good business, best at night, fresh cycling with funny lights. I suspect they would love it here, all around Koh Pich and Independence Mon.

Slo-mo traffic though.

I guess it allows the cars-non-owners to get a glimpse of the good life, blocking the SUVs, driving a big shiny thinggy around the top-spot, with friends and girlfriends....It's actually a smart idea, because you can also chat your bird and more, see and be seen around, just like big cars/bike owners showing-off.

Fresh wind, cheap copycat of the elites, without the seriousness and drama.

Find the right local biz partner..
- maybe a bright, young, outside the box, first daughter studying marketing at RUPP
with a boyfriend in unconventional engineering and a rich daddy.

But yeah, it is probably too late,
they would need to be more like cheap, eco-friendly, solar and pedal powered Hummers to survive on the roads these days.
