Murdered man Found in Koh Kong Pond
Koh Kong Province, Cambodia Breaking News: An unknown man was found floating in a pond in the early morning of August 6, 2019, in Stung Veng, Koh Kong Province.
After receiving information from citizens that they had found a body floating in a pond in the commune of Stung Veng, the city's police force has cooperated with provincial office staff and the involvement of medical teams to inspect the body. It is extremely distended, but has been confirmed as male, with extensive bruising, and police are treating this as a murder case. It appears the man was beaten before being thrown into the pond by persons unknown.
Currently, the body of the victim has been taken to repose at Wat Botum.

UPDATE: Appeal Denied
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 12 April 2023, the Supreme Court denied the appeal of a woman who was convisted of murdering her husband on 2 August 2019, at their home in Stung Veng village, Khemarak Phoumin district, Koh Kong province.
The couple were married; the woman was aged 53, her husband was 56, and they both worked as farmers.
The woman was arrested on 7 September 2019, and sentenced by the Koh Kong Provincial Court on 8 April 2020 to 10 years in prison for murder under Article 199 of the Criminal Code. She was found guilty of beating her husband to death during a dispute and then throwing his body into a pond, where the neighbors found him floating.
Following her sentencing in Koh Kong, the woman first appealed before the Phnom Penh Municipal Court of Appeal, and now she has appealed before the Supreme Court; her appeal was denied and her sentence was upheld in both cases.
