Two Hopeless Foreigners Ask Immigration to Send Them Home
Cambodia Breaking News (Phnom Penh): On August 2, 2019, two foreigners, one Indian and one Frenchman, went to the Department of Investigation and Procedures (from the Department of Immigration), asking for help because they have no visas or passports.
1. A 44 year old Indian man, YASH PAISINGH, went to the Department of Investigation and Procedures, because he is homeless and staying on the street with no passport.
2. A 51 French Man, ALAIN CLAUDE GALLOIS, also went to immigration officials, asking them for help to send him back home. He came to Cambodia on March 3, 2018, through Phnom Penh international Airport and his latest visa expired on May 06, 2018, and subsequently he had no money to pay for a visa extension.
The two broke foreigners were sent the Immigration Department to follow the legal procedures.

Typo? Hopeless vs homeless

Anyone know the likely outcome of a case like this? Just out of curiosity...

It takes a lot of guts to do this so therefore there request should be granted... They should be offered the help they seek for.

Held in detention for long enough to see if they can hustle up some money from friends/relations for airline ticket/ overstay fines, eventually deported and not allowed back for 5-10 years.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Any idea where the money for one way ticket home comes from?

As John Bingham said "friends/relations".
You could be next.

Why do you think deportation means going back home? I think if they don’t cough up money they will just drive ‘m to to the nearest Thai border. If their passports show they entered through Thailand they can even do so legally.

But they don't have passports and if they had friends or family to help them out in sure they'd probably not have felt the need to go to the DoI .
What I'm asking is, in a situation where someone doesn't have a passport, visa or any official documents, no money and absolutely no access to money, neither through friends or family, what happens then?
Are their Embassy expected to deal with them (pay four them to go home) or are they just banged up here indefinitely?

I guy i know who got deported to uk from new zealand had no means to pay.government paid it and he had an attachment to earnings order placed on him.so soon as he was working the money was taken out his wages bit by bit until it was paid. Of course cash in hand work would of meant he didnt have to pay as they wouldnt of known he was working.but cash in hand work is pretty rare in the uk nowadays.xandreu wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2019 1:07 pm But they don't have passports and if they had friends or family to help them out in sure they'd probably not have felt the need to go to the DoI .
