Re: Recommended TV shows and series
I grew up watching Monty Python on the pbs channel in my town...
I used to tape Masterpiece Theater Sherlock Holmes in the 80s during thunderstorms in KC USA and was so happy to have the crooked man even with bolts of lightning messing with the recording. Vincent Price was the host...before Emma Peele took over....
I did not find The Thick of It until about 5 years ago and bought the entire collection....
It is one of the best television programs in history.
If I was back in Kansas I could put Dr. Tony Hill in and enjoy Wire in the Blood again.
I wish I could put Cracker in and watch Robbie go wild.
Alas, My UK collection is back in Kansas for the most part.
I did think I would try my Khmer wife out on Little Britain later...I think the fat suit skits would be a good fit......

Re: Recommended TV shows and series
Tbh, I don't think highly of a lot of TV series, and am usually let down by them. I like my shit to be somewhat "real" (whatever that means to you). So here's a list of my greatest of all time, with trailers for the lesser-knowns.
1. The Wire (this is at first place, nothing else really matters)
The Thick of It
Peep Show
Planet Earth
Maybe some others......
Gomorra - chronicles of the brutal Camora clans of the Neapolitan region
Les Revenants - meaningful horror, thw the remake
Borgen - follows a female PM in Denmark, probably the best political drama out there. (also Danish crime shows, in general)
First Person - Errol Morris does something special: "The show engaged a varied group of individuals from civil advocates to criminals, and ran for two seasons, in 2000–2001. Interviews were conducted with "The Interrotron", a device similar to a teleprompter: Errol and his subject each sit facing a camera. The image of each person's face is then projected onto a two-way mirror positioned in front of the lens of the other's camera. Instead of looking at a blank lens, then, both Morris and his subject are looking directly at a human face." (from wikipedia)

Oh, and some reality/comedy genius, Nathan For You, and The Eric Andre Show:
Re: Recommended TV shows and series
I went to school and lived in the Inner Harbor of Bmo.. Baltimore in the 80s...The Wire was filmed around Fell's Point near a great bar and seafood place I hung out...The front of the Station House was actually a city building right on the bay that housed boats.
I drove by it all the time...
Bmo was one fucking trippy place for this Kansas fella to be working and going to school.
The Wire was so fucking great.
I could not believe when I found out the dude was a Brit.... Dominic was amazing.
Those mean streets have not gotten much better.
So weird Johns Hopkins was so close and I worked half way between Bmo and D.C. at an incredible Italian restaurant in wealthy suburbs.
I used to love seeing that Station House and the battered front door of the bar I hung out at.
So much talent on that show.
