Recommended MOVIES

Post by Ghostwriter »

All right, so a popcorn thread,
With possibly little known but priceless MOVIES, and actually well filmed by competent people, including (well) known actors to keep it attractive.

So no need to bring Titanic, Fast & Furious 12, or an obscure Lituanian 1954 movie subtitled in Polish that only you and the cameraman watched unless it's vintage porn, you get my drift.

Any recommendations ?

As a start :

This one about the advertising business, from the point of view of a depraved publicist.

This one about luck competitions.

That's got a nice ring to it.

Anyway, now that phuket richard has seen fit to post about not watching movies...in a thread about recommended movies....back on topic.

One of my go to classics is 12 Angry Men:

This. Why post one's own personal negativity towards something on a perfectly good topic that other members might want to follow and find enjoyable?

Brody beat me to the punch with 12 Angry Men, it's a good movie & well paced for a courtroom job which usually can be a bit dull unless you're Cam Nivag checking for discrepancies between Hollywood and reality.

I'd have to throw in Seven Samurai & more recently "Hero" (Jet Li) as a beautifully made movie. Can't find it on any streaming service or even in the local DVD shops, I'd love to see it again.

Comedy wise I can't get past Blazing Saddles.

Back into obscure oldies, both Champion and Vikings with Kirk Douglas, and I'll throw in Jason & the Argonauts for fun ... you can still hear Talos needs some WD40 even though the GIF has no sound ...

Too many genres and great movies I've missed. All these threads, will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

The thin red line
The city on the hill
Euphoria
The loudest voice
Yellowstone
Queen of the south
Big little lies
Catch 22
The enemy within

That's fantastic phuket richard. I'm sure no one would dispute that.

However, this particular thread is about MOVIES. See? the OP even put it in all caps in the title.

I've noticed that you tend to jump into various threads for the sole purpose of being a contrarian or asking oddly personal questions of the OP. I for one find it very off putting and disruptive.

Anyway, enough derailment.

Here's a guilty pleasure of mine that I recently rewatched and hadn't seen in a coons age.

It isn't an award winner but I'm a Clint fan and this is a neat little spy thriller with pretty cool characters and a sweet little mocha skinned beauty to boot. I'm all about the interracial lovin'.

Many obvious ones. Not so much little known, as having dropped off the radar

M*A*S*H
I like both, but I do prefer the tv series over the movie...but it ain’t as simple as that....

Shawshank redemption

Apocalypse now

12 angry men as mentioned before

Heat of the night.
Blackboard jungle
To sir, with love

Guns at Batasi

The list goes on...
