Got tearful and cried watching the opening and then the ending of Saving Private Ryan. Granted just after surgery when I was on an emotional roller coaster.

But still, for a man to beg for forgiveness from the people who died bringing him home. He lived the tomorrow that they would never have. To stand in judgement of their souls…

In the land of saints & sinners

2023, Liam Neeson & a load of Irish actors, action, vaguely set in some early 80's imagining of rural Donegal Ireland

A bit trope ridden but enjoyable flick solid 5.6/10

Some great spaghetti westerns to watch.
1. The Big Gundown.
2. The Mercenary.
3. The Great Silence.

macabre comedy done right with great camerawork
If that's up your street, have you seen Irreversible, a 2002 rape/revenge story told in reverse chronology? It's very macabre, very violent and in French! So, 2 out of 3.

They have just released a new version, this time in the correct chronology, but nobody seems to know why. Stick to the original.

It's on Pirate Bay if anyone wants to give it a go. It isn't for the squeamish.

None of any Gaspard Noé movies are for the squeamish, all are visually spectacular, all will make you feel uncomfortable.

Just watched Top Gun Maverick, last night on Amazon Prime.

Wow! Took all the good stuff of the first movie and continued the story.

The background history is even more amazing. Saved the movie theaters from closing down post COVID. Cruise refused to having streaming companies sponsor it, saying movie theaters only release. Filmed on 2 aircraft carriers, Topgun, with Blue Angels, East and West coast training squadrons (the pilots who teach the pilots how to fly Super Hornets), and the only F-14 left (moved from the Air and Space Museum), the Navy and Marines went all out for this movie.
