Actually, you are entitled to release on licence dependent on your crime and judicial review from anywhere from 1/3 of your sentence until the very end. It's not parole in the UK, you get let out on licence with caveats to your behaviour, depending on your category. He's going to be on the nonce wing for any time served so until he's been assessed as not being any further threat to society he will stay fairly isolated.
