Reason for staying in guest houses
Re: Reason for staying in guest houses
Because that's about $4 more than some sad pricks want to spend on sleeping with dignity.timmydownawell wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 4:46 pm I don't know why anyone does it here when you can get a room with a fan, tv and (cold) shower for $7.
Re: Reason for staying in guest houses
Well, $4 is about 8 beers if I remember correctly.

Because you are young, traveling solo, and you want to meet people a bit like yourself ?timmydownawell wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 4:46 pm I don't know why anyone does it here when you can get a room with a fan, tv and (cold) shower for $7.

You can do that without sharing a room with six strangers though.Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 5:51 pmBecause you are young, traveling solo, and you want to meet people a bit like yourself ?timmydownawell wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 4:46 pm I don't know why anyone does it here when you can get a room with a fan, tv and (cold) shower for $7.

Re: Reason for staying in guest houses
I have only once been in the position to have done this once in my lifetime (apart from being in a hospital ward). And that was how it become, me and a friend were returning from some work in Germany back to England. In a massive downpour we had a motorbike accident on the autobahn. Ambulance and hospital too remove the impregnated gravel from mainly my legs, while my friend was out cold from hitting a countdown post. That afternoon, discharged and on our way, without the smashed up bike, that was in the police compound, and very little money between us, due to the rucksack with our wages not being found. So we hitched 400 km Frankfurt to Antwerp and then a short journey to Ostend 120 km for the ferry I booked beforehand. So there in Ostend in the evening and only a backpackers place for us. We had a 4 bedroom with 2 bunks, one f**ked up drunk and a religious nut. I have stayed in many shitholes in my time with working away from home most of my working life, also slummed it here and there with free music festivals and travel. But I would never freely choose, paying, to share a room with strangers.timmydownawell wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 6:00 pmYou can do that without sharing a room with six strangers though.Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 5:51 pmBecause you are young, traveling solo, and you want to meet people a bit like yourself ?timmydownawell wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 4:46 pm I don't know why anyone does it here when you can get a room with a fan, tv and (cold) shower for $7.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
