Barang Family with issues?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. according to a story in a site that can not be named
they were arrested in Battamabang
Update: According to a source, the still as yet unidentified foreigners were hauled into a Battambang office, where it was decided they had not lost their belongings. It is said that they will be sent across the border into Thailand on Sunday (unconfirmed).

Phnom Penh: Cambodian Facebook users have been spreading the word about a foreign family, who it is lost their belongings last week.

It is claimed that they have no money to buy milk for their baby, so they decided to sing in the street to ask for money.

However, other Facebook users have claimed this nothing more than a ‘begpacker’ scam and the family are doing nothing more than cheating honest folk by making them feel pity.
We constantly hear about Cambodian,Thai, Philippine scams, interesting to hear about a farang scam on locals

Devils advocate;
they will be taken to Poi Pet an deported from Cambodia.
so what happens when Thailand asks to see 40,000 baht, (min amount needed to show for a family) ,hotel reservations and air ticket out, ( to get in on a visa exempt entry)?
and they cant show?
their Fucked

PS: loved the Russian folk song
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

From the source, 3 hours ago:

Battambang, Cambodia News: Battambang provincial police chief says that it is important to know the truth. These people are not crazed beggars who have had all their money stolen. They were misunderstood because they thought it was ok to go around making music in return for some food and shelter. [Note that their English is not the best.]
According to official Battambang provincial police's office, at around 2 pm today, this is fake news which has caused the most serious harm to the dignity and value of Cambodia as a whole.

Citizens are asked to stop spreading false information on social media.
If you watch the video posted above you will see the true situation.

So it is illegal for a guy to sing in public and accept a beer if someone offers you one? I fail to see their crime, there is another thread going about professional beggars without much condemnation., unless of course the kid is rented or they have maimed it to increase their earnings.

It appears that the couple of Russians have not been charged with anything.
