Re: Chinese Online Worker Commits Suicide After Debt Call
This is very sad, I wonder how many of the Chinese or other foreign workers are in similar circumstances. There isn't enough detail in the article to tell, but the debt could be from his family who are up to necks in it, his own gambling habit, or money owed to a trafficker for landing him a great job embezzling/ extorting from gullible folks online.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Amongst other things. Did you ever watch the documentary about the Apple "employees" in China killing themselves? It did (eventually) lead to an "enquiry" by Apple. Not heard a dickie-bird since.John Bingham wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 11:47 pm This is very sad, I wonder how many of the Chinese or other foreign workers are in similar circumstances. EDIT: It is a crying shame that there are not other choices than these.

That’s because the FoxCon “Apple” suicide story was fake news. Yes, some of the 50,000 workers jumped to their deaths, but it was found out later that statistically, the suicide rates among the workers was lower than the general population. Also, they are paid 3x what an average factory worker gets paid, so the slave labor angle was fake news as well. Plus Apple was just one of their customers. FoxCon did work for literally every tech company you can think of.Yerg wrote:Amongst other things. Did you ever watch the documentary about the Apple "employees" in China killing themselves?
