English Princess Eugenie, Victim of Bag-Snatch in Phnom Penh in 2009
Princess Eugenie caught in terrifying mugging
This sounds so scary - by Milly Haddrick
18 Jul 2019
Princess Eugenie's life hasn't been all frills and cocktail parties.
Newly unearthed reports have revealed that the daughter of the Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson was caught up in a terrifying incident while in Cambodia, that left the royal fearing for her safety.
In 2009, Princess Eugenie was taking her gap year in Cambodia when she was saved by two bodyguards from a violent gang of thieves, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The terrifying incident is believed to have kicked off when Eugenie - accompanied by two friends - decided to stroll the streets of Phnom Penh at night.
It was on their late-night walk that a mugger attempted to grab Eugenie's bag, unaware that his target was a member of the royal family and therefore continuously flanked by security guards.
The mugging marked the first time in 10 years that any of Scotland Yard's elite protection officers had to respond a direct threat to a senior member of the royal family.
A Buckingham Palace source told The Sun: "They feared the incident was escalating out of control and took the decision to focus on the safety of their principal."
According to the reports, the two security guards rugby tackled the mugger, only to then be pelted with rocks by his accomplice.
Fearing for the Princess's safety, the guards let the thieves go in order to swiftly whisk Eugenie away from the scene.

No, this is General Chatter. Just to point out that ten years ago people were also being bag/phone snatched. Nothing new, despite the impression that crime is rising.

Fuck the Royal family, especially Sarah Ferguson and her fat pig-faced ginger daughter. The amount of money HER gap year must have cost the British tax payers with 24 hour bodyguards is sickening. How I wish Reaksmey the Robber had managed to teach her a life lesson in being Princess Nobody.

At least you can say that without fear, there are certain royals you could not say that about without risking a long spell at their pleasure!!!Cambo Dear wrote:Fuck the Royal family, especially Sarah Ferguson and her fat pig-faced ginger daughter. Princess Diana and her anti-land mine activism
71 countries had land mines people being wounded and physically broken by land mines in some of the poorest and most war-torn countries, such has one of the country’s we are fond of, here in Cambodia. Many credit Diana with the success of the Ottawa Mine Ban Treaty, which opened for signature in the months after her death; in December 1997, 122 governments signed. The Second Reading of the Landmines Bill 1998 to the British House of Commons, it was that time when Robin Cook, at the time Foreign Secretary, paid tribute to Diana's efforts. "All honourable Members will be aware from their postbags of the immense contribution made by Diana, Princess of Wales to bringing home to many of our constituents the human costs of land mines. The best way in which to record our appreciation of her work, and the work of NGOs that have campaigned against land mines, is to pass the Bill and to pave the way toward a global ban on land mines." Today the late Princess Diana’s son Prince Harry continues to champion her cause.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
