Foreigners soon to be banned from certain jobs.

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Over the last few years, Cambodia has gradually adopted laws similar to those in Thailand that apply to foreigners.
eg, the Condo Law allowing foreigners to buy condos above the ground floor in their own name, enforcement of the requirement for work permits, Retirement visas, and the pending ban on foreigners doing certain jobs.

So whats next ? I reckon they will crack down on foreigners controlling land through the nominee structure, which is illegal under the Cambodian constitution.

Presumably this applies to street pie selling , no matter how much pastry you bribe the local sangkat chief with?

Lot of western hairdressers in PP, I wonder how they'll get around it. Call themselves a consultant?

Economic dependence
By PhilStar -
August 28, 2019

The foreigners are engaging in kidnapping and money laundering. Communities are complaining that the foreigners are engaging even in low-skilled work, taking jobs away from locals.

Often rowdy, the foreigners are currently creating an economic boom in the host city. But locals warn that if current trends continue, the foreigners will soon patronize their own restaurants and related establishments, whose supplies come from their own groceries, which import their merchandise from their homeland.

Demand for housing by the foreigners has driven up real estate prices by nearly tenfold, crowding out locals who cannot keep up with the rental surges.

It is the same with the TM30 in Thailand, it is not white foreigners that are the real target,
It is the 2.5 million Asian non Thais the government wants to keep track of. We only see things through our own eyes and forget about the hordes of other foreigners that are taking over.

those LEGAL migrant laborers on L-A visa's, ( Burmese,Laotians, Cambodians) only submit tm 30's once.
those others that are illegal dont ever submit them.. :beer1:

Its kinda a crazy thing anyway, anyone using an agent gets away with whatever they want cause immigration gets a big cut.

AirAsia alone offers 47 flights a week to Thailand from 9 Indian cities. Chinese tourists now number over 10,000,000 a year. how many are in Thailand this week?

Out of the 200,000 Africans in Thailand at least 80,000 were on overstay from Nigeria and Somalia according to Thai Immigration. Fair enough they are not Asian but they sure aren t what I consider farang. Ever been to Soi Arab off Sukhumvit, Soi Africa, Pattaya's Arab quarter?

Is this really true?? takes it a step beyond the PP post link
Foreigners banned from running a small business and being self-employed
“A self-employed person refers to those who work and have income without an employer,” Mr Samheng said in the directive.

He said that the Labour Ministry will no longer issue or renew work permits for foreigners working these jobs, and those who failed to comply with the directive could be punished under the Labour Laws.

"Foreigners are also banned from running a small business and being self-employed". So what can the foreigner actually do regarding work? It sounds that he/she is banned from all work unless he is employed by a Khmer boss.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
