Is there a market for bodyguards in Cambodia?
Re: Is there a market for bodyguards in Cambodia?
For Cambodians no for international clients yes.
Re: Is there a market for bodyguards in Cambodia?
Not for nothing but a couple of those guys appear to be a tad mushy around the midsection.
I guess they're not expecting any extended cardio-vascular output to be involved in the 'protection' services they offer.
If I'm paying top dosh to have my ass looked after, I don't want my crew looking like they're more adept at throwing down chili-cheese fries with special sauce, than throwing down violent, hardened opportunistic thugs.

What the...where do I even start, I just had a look at the Prosec Cambodias FB page, what a joke.
To the OP, there is a very limited market in Cambodia for foreign Close Protection Officers, foreigners are severely restricted in the security industry in SEA as a whole.
Any decent CP provider would not post pictures of their operators all over FB.

One of those dudes is a badass.

Not sure if any of those guys are ex special forces which is what I expect multi millionaire types who travel to dodgy places look for.
One is that Swedish bodybuilding guy who sells protein shakes. Another is a former Glaswegian doorman who manages a security guard company.
Don't think any of them are licensed to carry firearms whereas local bodyguards who may be moonlighting cops or soldiers will have access to hardware and probably packing pieces. The janitor of my first apartment complex used to have a handgun tucked into his pants. I know at least one Khmer guy who carries his own gun which I have seen as well as having a guard/driver who probably has his own. If I were worth a few millions and had potential enemies or kidnapping gangs interested in doing me harm then I would think having a couple of guys packing heat would be more useful to watch your back whilst sipping coffee in Starmart rather than someone who can pick up a barbell.

Don't local Generals own all the security companies? I think they only supply low level guards for property who are guaranteed to sleep on the job. Real bodyguards are all moonlighting soldiers aren't they?
The gang pictured look like mates of Steve Morrish, does anyone see these chaps around the traps?

There's only one barang with a carry permit but he's pretty busy hunting child murderers.

A "couple" does not mean I was referring to "all" of them.
So, good for him, his is ripped. Maybe he handles all the protection duties and the rest of the slovenly group does admin work?
Why don't you have a look at the rest of their personal Facebook pages and get back to me on that.
Nota bene: I'm quite sure that any one of those chaps, biscuit-assed or not, could stomp a mud-hole in my ass in about a New York minute.
Hell, maybe tubby bodyguards are where it's at. It was good enough for Saul Goodman:

Very true, the real ones are just unknown.
