American, Ex-Brooklyn Pizza, YANNI IKE MORRIS, Goes to Immigration Department with Expired Visa and Passport
Cambodia Breaking News (Phnom Penh): Today, on July 10, 2019, at 10:30 am, a 52-year-old American man, YANNI IKE MORRIS, went to the Department of Immigration, asking help as he found himself with an expired visa and an expired passport. Known as Guy Morris on social media.
After questioning, the police found that the American man arrived in Cambodia on February 01, 2015 through Phnom Penh Airport. He worked as a chef at Brooklyn Pizza and Bistro for a year, and then he became the manager there. The Australian boss of Brooklyn Pizza was supposed to handle the necessary paperwork for his passport and visa, but in June 2019 he realized that the passport had expired on November 18, 2017, and the visa had expired on December 13, 2016. After that, the American went to the US embassy to request a new passport.
He was sent to the Immigration Department to follow the legal procedure. This was posted by the Immigration Department about one hour ago so there may be updates later.

A better question is, how does a grown man not realize that his passport expired two years ago? Either he was totally broke at the time and couldn't pay for a new passport/visa, or is totally clueless/gullible in assuming an employer would take of that for you.

That is the question that sprang to my mind too.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 5:48 pm A better question is, how does a grown man not realize that his passport expired two years ago? Two years ago he was running the Rubicon Bar and Grill. Lol. Don't suppose there could be two chefs called Guy Morris working in PP at the same time. Anyone know what happened to the restaurant ? Sounds pretty good.

Jessica Tana and photographer Lucas Veuve get stuck into the hearty menu Rubicon Bar and Grill.
“I say with pride that everything is fried in butter,” Guy Morris says, gesturing towards a beef patty bubbling away in a pool of browning butter. “I guess I’m just a butter advocate.”
Chef and owner of Rubicon Bar and Grill, Morris admits his food is not for the calorie-counting crowd. “It’s hearty, filling, camp-fire food, elevated to restaurant quality,” he says.
Open for roughly six months, Morris initially started a bar with a small food menu of the things he loves to eat. The food has drawn such a crowd, however, and it’s not hard to see why.
Favouring large cuts of meat, Morris whips up delectable home-made marinades, pickles his own vegetables and smokes salt with cedar and bamboo. The result is both unpretentious and seriously flavourful at the same time.

That's a bit of a stretch, his passport/ visa expired and he only realized a couple of years later? Who the hell does that? He's either on the run or has some serious issues.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

As with many a story in Cambodia, there must be something missing or amiss here. He is not begging on the street with swollen feet. How could any reasonably sane person think that an Australian could get an American a new passport at the US embassy with the American's involvement. How could any reasonably sane person think that you could stay in a foreign country without a passport (and visa)?
On the run?
On the run?

I am not sure but he has his bag with him, ready to go back to his country. Maybe he was going to leave before but could not be bothered at the time and let things go by. Not paying for the passport or visa's, nor work permit and so on saved a little for him. So if he as no funds now! What is the procedure of the officials?
Always "hope" but never "expect".
