Two Koreans Arrested for Importing Over US$2M Cash from Hong Kong to Cambodia
Cambodia Breaking News (Siem Reap): Two South Korean men, YOON WONGI, 30 years old, and SONG HYUNHOO, 40 years old, were arrested on July 7, 2019, at Siem Reap airport, for importing $2,200,000 in cash from Hong Kong to Cambodia.
The police said the suspects used flight no UO-706(HKG-REP) from Hong Kong to Siem Reap airport. The customs officers collaborated with the Airport police, who detained the suspects immediately when they arrived. The two had stated on their customs form that they had nothing to declare, and that they were not bringing more than $10,000 into the country.
The $2,200,000 USD, which was made up of mostly $100 bills, but also 200 $50 notes, is being kept temporarily at the Customs and Excise Office in Siem Reap International Airport.

22 kg of cash, if they flew in AirAsia, they were over their 7kg carry on allowance.

I think that’s the least of their worries, mr big ain’t going to be very happy with those two losing all his cash.Anthony's Weiner wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 6:44 pm 22 kg of cash, if they flew in AirAsia, they were over their 7kg carry on allowance.
I think they could have afforded the excess anyway

Yeah. I calculated that 1M US $ in notes must weigh about 10 kilos.Anthony's Weiner wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 6:44 pm 22 kg of cash, if they flew in AirAsia, they were over their 7kg carry on allowance.
Thanks CEO. You learn some useful stuff on here. So, if I want to transport wads of cash in my hand luggage, then I should only carry $700,000 in order to stay within the usual allowance. Haha, now to find the $700,000.

You never know, it could all be fake, made in Hong Kong, wonder how long it took to count it all.

Re: Two Koreans Arrested for Importing Over US$2M Cash from Hong Kong to Cambodia
Is it possible that this is part of a large-scale Chinese money laundering network ? Note that the two mules listed their jobs as "employees". And, for every million that gets confiscated on arrival in Cambodia, how many millions are getting through ?

Foreign money mules nabbed at Siem Reap airport with $2.2 million
Two South Korean nationals were arrested on Sunday for trying to bring a total of $2.2 million in cash into the Kingdom without proper provenance for the money.
Immigration police nabbed the pair, Yoon Wongi and Song Hyunhoo, upon their arrival at Siem Reap International Airport’s Customs and Excise Department on July 7. They were toting $2.2 million in bundles of $100 and $50 banknotes.
Sok Phal, secretary of state for Ministry of Interior, said the two men are currently detained at the provincial court for further legal procedures in accordance with the law.
He noted that in a similar case, the judge would take action based on the laws on money laundering, fighting the financing of terrorism, and other legal instruments in Cambodia.
In May, police at Phnom Penh airport have also confiscated some $4.3 million in two separate cases from the Chinese people who also imported the money from Hong Kong.

Money mules cite Chinese connection
The General Immigration Department said two accused South Korean money mules detained at Siem Reap International Airport confessed that they were hired by unnamed Chinese nationals to bring about $2.2 million in cash into the Kingdom.
The two Korean nationals were detained on July 7 after immigration police found undeclared $2.2 million in bundles of $50 and $100 notes in their belongings.
GID director General Kirth Chantharith yesterday said the two South Koreans confessed they were employed by the Chinese nationals to carry the money into the Kingdom.
“The pair said they were hired to carry the money [$2.2 million] by Chinese nationals whose identities were unknown,” Gen Chantharith said. “They [the South Koreans] were handed the money by a group of people who were not the owner of the money.”
He noted that the practice of hiring mules to carry cash into the Kingdom is new and that a proper investigation is needed to prevent it from happening again in the future.
Gen Chantharith said a total of nine suspected mules have been arrested and charged with money laundering, including seven Chinese nationals and the two South Koreans.

Going to be an impossible task to give back that money by the looks of it, but I hope they keep trying.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
