Chinese own more than 90% of Sihanoukville businesses, says report

Post by phuketrichard »

fucking amazing??
Chinese are taking over and proves that everything is for sale!!!
Chinese nationals own more than 90 per cent of businesses in Sihanoukville, ranging from hotels, casinos, restaurants to massage parlours, according to a report from Preah Sihanouk provincial authorities.

Speaking during a meeting on sustainable work and strengthening security and public order in Preah Sihanouk province on Monday, provincial police chief Chuon Narin said the province has received a lot of investment from foreigners, especially the Chinese.

The province is rapidly growing in all areas such as hotels, guesthouses, casinos, restaurants, and other businesses, he said.

According to Narin, there are currently 156 hotels and guesthouses in Preah Sihanouk province, of which 150 are Chinese-owned. There are 62 casinos, of which 48 are invested in by the Chinese.

He said there are 41 karaoke clubs and 46 massage parlours owned by the Chinese as well. Of the total 436 restaurants in the province, 95 per cent are managed by Chinese nationals.

I mentioned that even the market stalls in psar leu have been taken over and got furious denial from members here esp that half Irish fool who infests TOF and is married to a PRC citizen.

It is true despite the Wu Mao apologist propaganda.

Wow that’s shocking. But not really.

99.9% of the businesses are on Cambodian owned land or Cambodian owned buildings leased to the Chinese. (I don’t know. Maybe 90% or 100%, but a lot)

One day they will yank the carpet away. You’ll see.

how do you know?
I'd think the building's are owned by Cambodian companies with ONLY Chinese voting shareholders
and who cares, 99 year lease is same as owning it, as i doubt the planet will be around that long

No idea that’s why I said “I don’t know”.

That’s a very good point about leases. What fools the Chinese are in taking 99 year leases (that’s usually for land right?) as the world will end before then. Haha. Who’s laughing now!

I know two big casinos are leased on 10 year rolling contracts and they are owned by two Okhnas. 333 KTV is also on a 10 year lease and is owned by a local 100%.

I’d agree with Dave.
I know local business people in Chinaville and they own the land and buildings. Not many are jointly owned.

I don’t think people are denying it’s happening just that it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Now yes but in 10 20 years time? No.

But I doubt I’ll be around anyway by then. Lol.

There used to be 99 year leases (BS Borey?) but they’ve been reduced to 50 and 25 years. (Happened to a German I know)

When I read this it reminded me of the big speech last week of CPP not allowing colonisation of Cambodia https://m.phnompenhpost.com/national/pm ... n-invasion

Seems like they need a dictionary

noun
noun: colonisation
the action or process of settling among and establishing control over the indigenous people of an area.
"Africa boasts a tradition of higher education institutions that predate Western colonization"

the action of appropriating a place or domain for one's own

Shocking figures that seem excessive to me, because for example, that would leave only 22 non-Chinese restaurants in the whole of Sihanouk province, but who am I to argue with the Chief of Police.

But :dm: do the maths.
