Australian CHRISTOPHER EDWARD SMEATON Detained For Homelessness and Begging

Cambodia Breaking News, Phnom Penh: On 1 July, 2019, at 3:00 pm, CHRISTOPHER EDWARD SMEATON, a 49-year-old Australian, was taken into custody by the Office of Investigation and Implementation of the Immigration Office for overstaying his visa.
The Australian arrived in Cambodia in 2018, but he has no valid visa, no money, no job, and he was sleeping on the pavement and begging for money. He was apprehended by Phnom Penh police for disturbing public order by creating traffic jams while begging from people on the busy streets of Norodom Street and Monivong Blvd.

The other man detained with him is a 50-year-old Chinese man with mental health problems and no passport.
Both men were sent by Phnom Penh police to the Department of Immigration to apply the legal procedures.

Damn, so this guy got picked up last year for overstaying his visa by 8 months, was kicked out, re-entered on a new visa and then promptly became homeless and overstayed again?

Phnom Penh: On March 14, an Australian, CHRISTOPHER EDWARD SMEATON, was arrested for overstaying his Cambodia visa, which expired on 27 July 2017 (over 8 months). He was taken to immigration department to follow the legal action.

Speaking of mini marts, I saw a sign outside a mini mart the other day saying, in English, "No outside drinks allowed in our seating area."

So apparently there are Westerners who are so cheap that they don't want to pay minimart prices but still want to drink outside minimarts. They're sourcing their beers somewhere even cheaper but then taking them to minimarts to sit outside and drink them.
