In Siem Reap for 6 more days, what to do?

Post by Mikeherdes »

Looking for some suggestions on things to do in Siem Reap beyond what's on TripAdvisor. My gf and I have been here for about 3 weeks now. We're waiting on our visas to come back.
What we've done:
  • Angkor temples
Dirt bike tour of the national park
    Explored pub street
We have rented a scooter for the week, so getting around isn't an issue. Any hidden gems in this area we shouldn't miss?

I second Kulen Mountain...

Also, if you have 6 days..... find a way to go to Preah Vihear. Fantastic temples (on top of small mountain) without the BOATLOADS of tourists.

Leave early and go to Beng Mealea (the buses start arriving around 09:00) and then on to Koh Ker, my favourite temples.

Koh Ker on the way to Preah Vihear
Head west and Banteay Chhmer

Forgot: bring your passports if you go to Preah Vihear. Border region and they can be pretty uptight about it.

Go to the Banteay Srey temple, the stone carving is absolute beautiful.

They don't have passports, waiting on visas.

West Baray and Kulen Mountain are definitely worth a visit. There's also the town of Anlong Veng which has several Khmer Rouge related sights. Pol Pot's grave, Ta Mok's house, etc.
