Exactly. When was this relationship looking good in our lifetime ? Both countries need enemies from outside to stir up the nationalist feelings and votes for strongmen. :boxing: Nothing new here IMO. And not just them. It's a pattern that is repeated all over.

Some say it started 130 years ago.
"That British and Russian imperialism contributed greatly to the formation of Iranian nationalism is almost axiomatic" - from a scholarly history.

Some say the die was cast 56 years ago.
"On Aug. 19, 2013, the CIA publicly admitted for the first time its involvement in the 1953 coup against Iran's elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh." - from the CIA

It was definitely on the boil 38 years ago.
"Iranian Hostage Crisis, a diplomatic conflict caused by the holding in captivity of United States embassy personnel by Iranian militants from November 4, 1979, to January 20, 1981. The crisis was precipitated when Mohammed Riza Pahlavi, the deposed shah, was allowed into the United States for medical treatment." - Wikipedia

There was hope for a while.
"After several rounds of negotiations, on 24 November 2013, the Joint Plan of Action, an interim agreement on the Iranian nuclear program, was signed between Iran and the P5+1 countries in Geneva, Switzerland." - Times

Until the idiot came along...
"PARIS — France, Germany, Britain and the European Union issued a joint condemnation Friday of the US move.
“We deeply regret the reimposition of sanctions by the United States stemming from their withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action,” the statement said in reference to the hard-fought 2015 nuclear deal with Iran." - Times of Israel

I'm not worried, far enough from my bed, you can't help it when they start a war.
There are people who cannot imagine that there are other ways of life than their own life.
