Sometimes called the "bear cat", but is actually closer to civets and otters on the taxonomical tree.
Another of Cambodia's fab mammals. One of the most common and can be seen in the bush, crossing the road, in settled rural areas. Friends of mine saw one on their Mekong riverbank, just 8 k's from Phnom Penh.
And yeah, Cambodia is an Aladdin's cave of mammals I didn't know about either, before i came here.
Guar, serow, finless porpoises, 3 otter species, all those different wild cats, etc etc...
So many, so different. The magical jewel box of our little KOW.

Those give you an annoying itchy rash if you touch them. I crush the ones I find in our pond.timmydownawell wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 12:50 pm a bunch of snails which I think came hidden with a pond plant I bought.

Lol, how did you know what I was thinking? I am definitely going to have to take a safari sometime and tour the local fauna. I will add it to the list along with seeing the Irrawaddy dolphin.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 4:14 pmDon't even think about it Sourlemon!! It's not the same as seeing them in the wild, but Phnom Tamao is a fab place to see animals you have never heard of before. Don't go on a weekend or public holiday, too crowded.dontbeasourlemon wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 6:59 pmLol, how did you know what I was thinking?
