Re: Expected cost of a wedding - PP in December
What's the process and paperwork like for someone who married outside of Cambodia?
Do you need to do the health, character, interviews with the anti people trafficking, hundreds in bribes?

You can try to have your foreign wedding certificate recognized by MoFA, but small chance you'll succeed. The Cambodian government no longer supports marriages abroad, to put it mildly.philip.smith wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 4:12 pm What's the process and paperwork like for someone who married outside of Cambodia?

The other way is legally getting married in Cambodia. If you can present all the correct paperwork it'll cost you about 350 USD. If you can't you're looking at 1000 or more.

I have been to a lot of Khmer weddings. I only ever once saw Scotch on the tables. That was a posh do on Koh Pich. And they had cans of Heineken instead of Anchor.philip.smith wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 6:48 am Hi,
What is the ballpark estimation for a wedding with 300-400 guests, in Phnom Penh in December this year? Won't be too lavish, definitely not Koh Pich or the Premier Centre.
Standard khmer wedding, johnny walker a table, beers by the dozen, standard food, probably rent a hall near to the airport.
Will probably be doing the full traditional 2 dayer with the 20 dresses, etc.

I once went to a 'wedding' of a Scott in 2009 out in the boonies, before the new 'laws'. A bottle of Laphroaig on every table....armchairlawyer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 4:38 pmI have been to a lot of Khmer weddings. I only ever once saw Scotch on the tables. ...oh, too late.philip.smith wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 7:49 am Was thinking of "Leap Mong", probably not it's actual name now but it's a recently built hall near here - https://www.google.com/maps/@11.5644811 ... 057,18.33z
Expecting maybe 8-12k return, at best, assuming 300 people people gave between $25-40 pp, can't really rely on it being a bit. Take it everything needs to be paid up front first as well?
Should also mention that we're married outside of Cambodia, so it'd just be for the event itself, no paperwork, etc.

Yes, PSDkiwi's guide is still 90% accurate, but addictional documents are asked for at MoFA. Check my posts and you'll find out which.
