David Fletcher Denied a Retrial in Cambodian Rape Case
Re: David Fletcher Denied a Retrial in Cambodian Rape Case
His motivations don't really matter if he's correct in his claims about the Fletch case. Talking about motivations is generally just a rhetorical technique used to change the subject and/or engage in ad hominem. Then again if you are interested in the filmmaker Ricketson and why he chooses the subjects he does, you may want to check out his legal run in with a local Christian NGO last year in an attempt to wrest a couple of confiscated children free of them. Also might want to look at the story behind Blackfellas.Soi Dog wrote:I haven't followed this story enough to know the involvement of all those people/groups on Fletcher's enemies list there. How is this Ricketson person involved and why is he so passionate about this particular cause? I understand he feels there has been a miscarriage of justice, but the world is chock full of those.

When forming an opinion on any such controversial issue, it is imperative to understand the motivations of both the accusers and defenders and their relationships with the accused. This goes for KiR, Morrish, APLE, the alleged victims and Ricketson as well. I imagine all parties involved cling to some "correct" claims to defend their positions, while simultaneously dismissing other's claims to the contrary.LTO wrote:His motivations don't really matter if he's correct in his claims about the Fletch case. No it isn't. What's important are the facts and the argument. Focusing on the man is the very definition of fallacy, though, granted, motivations and character might rightly lead you to seek a more trustworthy source of the facts and/or shed some light on a particular individual's interpretation and biases in their presentation of the facts. It says nothing substantive about the issue though.Soi Dog wrote:When forming an opinion on any such controversial issue, it is imperative to understand the motivations of both the accusers and defenders and their relationships with the accused. You surely do see the comedy in complaining about people potentially "outing" your real identity when you have a link in your signature attached to your screename that goes to a twitter page which reveals your real identity, right?keeping_it_riel wrote: We also see Scobiez's own agenda (or that of his fat puppetmaster) in attempting to entice Ricktson onto K440 for the purpose of outing me. Subtle, they aint.

Sure OD, but that's my choice rather than the vindictive action of others.OrangeDragon wrote:You surely do see the comedy in complaining about people potentially "outing" your real identity when you have a link in your signature attached to your screename that goes to a twitter page which reveals your real identity, right?keeping_it_riel wrote: We also see Scobiez's own agenda (or that of his fat puppetmaster) in attempting to entice Ricktson onto K440 for the purpose of outing me. I thought that scobienz said that he would only Ricketson on 440 if he promised to abide by the rules, namely NOT outing you or anyone else.keeping_it_riel wrote:Sure OD, but that's my choice rather than the vindictive action of others.OrangeDragon wrote:You surely do see the comedy in complaining about people potentially "outing" your real identity when you have a link in your signature attached to your screename that goes to a twitter page which reveals your real identity, right?keeping_it_riel wrote: We also see Scobiez's own agenda (or that of his fat puppetmaster) in attempting to entice Ricktson onto K440 for the purpose of outing me. He'd previously hinted that this rule did not apply to ex-members, for example me, who'd he'd barred the weekend before at the behest of his fat friend who's still furious that he didn't get 25% from the sale of K440.

wowowowow!
sounds like a screenplay in this shit.
Ricketson claims he's going to produce a documentary about it. Think this is what has got dear old KiR's knickers in such a twist, as If said documentary ever materialises he'll be centre stage.

Didn't the Pirate Bay fellows defense counsel also out dear old KiR over the hatchet job he did on that ex friend?OrangeDragon wrote:You surely do see the comedy in complaining about people potentially "outing" your real identity when you have a link in your signature attached to your screename that goes to a twitter page which reveals your real identity, right?keeping_it_riel wrote: We also see Scobiez's own agenda (or that of his fat puppetmaster) in attempting to entice Ricktson onto K440 for the purpose of outing me.
