Passapp car gone

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Passapp car gone

Post by Pedroviera »

Using passapp appliance we called a car/auto. Halfway to our destination car breaks down (no noise driver pulls over) . We decide to wait a few minutes see if it simple fix and driver asks if we can pay him now (2.50) and we do. We get out, he pops the hood and inspects, and we call another ride decide not to wait. We look back one minute later and he's gone..... When we tell new driver destination it's 10 minutes opposite direction we already traveled . Doubtful bad route was an accident (new driver says and it looks that way intersection/freeway busy) along with the impossibly quick repair job .....The original driver must have found a better ride/deal? Don't recall him talking in route on phone . If it was uber/lift in USA I'd contact them for credits/discounts /complain but don't see much worth it in Cambodia . Not a big deal but curious his motives

Report it to PassApp, they probably would take action.

If the belief that Cambodians don't "do" things like you'd expect in the West, then nothing will change. I know the PassApp owner, they do have process for punishing drivers and ultimately removing them - sure one complaint might not be anything to take action, but sets the ball rolling.

The alternative is for the Op to post the details of the PassApp taxi online so future customers, at least of CEO, can "take matters into their own hands" and avoid the prick.

I'm speaking from experience. I had a bunch a shitty drivers, reported them, and absolutely nothing happened. That's just the reality of things.

If you do know the owner of Passapp, please refer him to the multiple threads on CEO. That might motivate him to actually take customer service seriously. As for now, his app is only working because there's nothing else besides Grab that can compete with Passapp. The answer is always the same with Passapp: "We're sorry, we will tell him not to do that again." Ok. And?

There should be a FB page of something listing the info of all the shitty Passapp drivers. Problem is, Passapp might run out of drivers if that actually happens/ works.

So, they didn't figure out until new driver arrived that they were going in the wrong direction, if I read the Op correctly.

Either they didn't input a destination, or the driver just realised his mistake would lead to an argument and faked a breakdown to avoid losing face.

Grab. Fixed price, no cash, no incentive to go the long way.

The prices are almost inconsequential, so which is better for drivers?
Good, conscientious drivers

She gave landmark close to destination when we got in car (in Kilmer) he understood easy(seemed to) .. She not real familiar only been there once years ago and talking on phone....ya maybe he so embarrassed cuz he confused got lost? The breakdown covering his error....seems elaborate but effective . We've had mostly good experiences with passapp and will use it again. Maybe driver initially made honest mistake, new, ect .. well chalk this up to third world livin I guess
