Cambodia Breaking News (Siem Reap): A group of Cambodian Chefs community received a grand prize of the gold medal and 27 other medals in the Best Asian Gourmet Challenge in Thailand.

On June 4, 2019, there was a parade in Siem Reap of the Cambodian chefs community to celebrate their gold medal prize-winning competition. The chef Oek Sophea said, " The Cambodian Chefs Community is proud to receive the gold medal of Best Asian Gourmet Challenge in Thailand." The public turned out to wave and applaud the winners.

The competition took place in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 26 to 1 June, 2019. There were 1400 participants from Thailand, Cambodia, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macao, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, and Pakistan.

The winning chef said "most chefs don't use enough Knorr chicken powder, the proper ratio is 1:1 chicken powder to meat/vegetable. Another thing is chefs from other countries use vegetables (plural) whereas I would use maybe half a potato. Vegetables are bad. Cooking times are very important, you Cannot cook something for too long, it is impossible".
He also wanted to thank the judges and wished them and their tastebuds a speedy recovery, and sent condolences to some of their families.
