Business Visa requirements for 12 month multientry

Post by acedog »

Hi all. I am looking to be in Cambodia in and out over the next 18 months or so. I will be working for an NGO but not for a business or earning any money while I'm here. I can get an NGO visa for free but I need to be in the country for 3 months initially before i can extend and become a multi entry visa which i can not do. I decided that the multi entry business visa is probably my best option but I hear that with this Visa I need to register for tax. Anyone had any experience with this situation and what I will be up for?

Cheers

Hello Adrian and welcome.

Yes, the 12-month regular visa sounds best for you.

You don't "need" to register for taxes, and most expats here still work on the regular visa and don't have a work permit.

Just ask for the regular visa (formerly called the "business" visa) at the airport for $35 and it's valid for 30 days.

Anytime during that 30 days you can extend it for an additional 12 months.

Seriously, no need to worry about work permits and taxes in Cambodia (yet).

How much does this extension cost, using a reputable agent to handle the matter. If you know, how long does it take to get your passport with said extension returned? Thanks.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Since I wasn't clear, can I assume that if granted, said extension is a "multiple entry" meaning the holder can leave and enter as often as he desires? Cheers mate.

Yes, six and twelve month extensions are multi-entry.

Thanks all,

I had a feeling that the visa requirements would be pretty loose.

I got prices at a few travel agencies along the river front in Phnom Penh for about the $280 mark and 3 day turn around time. There are many options here and some quote 3 days, some 4. Could be that they are all 5 days lol.

Actually just found on this forum a thread about having a business visa but not a work permit and receiving $130 fines. Maybe I will stick with trying to get the NGO visa and not have to deal with all the headaches.

Heres an article on whats been happening.

There is no exact answer for anything.

I still think you'll be fine just showing up and getting the regular visa.

And I thought the NGO visa wouldn't work for you?
