Thailand has a new queen

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Thailand announced Wednesday that King Maha Vajiralongkorn's long-time consort had become his fourth wife, bestowed with the title Queen Suthida -- a surprise move just days before his coronation.

The Royal Gazette published an announcement saying Suthida Vajiralongkorn na Ayudhya, a former flight attendant, had "legally married" the king in accordance with royal traditions.

"Therefore, he bestows (the title) on General Suthida Vajiralongkorn na Ayudhya from Queen Consort to Queen Suthida as of now," the announcement said.

lol, someone started a Thai coronation thread a couple of hours ago.
But yeah, good news about the queen. Any mention of the dog ? Moved up to Defense Ministry or something ?

The point being that now as queen, she is also protected by Thailand’s strict lese majeste laws, which allow for 15-year prison sentences for any criticism of the king, queen, heir and regent.

Self censor accordingly.

Those ridiculous laws don't apply in other countries.

I thought the Men Going Their Own Way movement was a voluntary choice not a result of one's undesirability. Hard for me to imagine my mother making dinner for dad and us as kids if her place was crawling on the floor.
