Will It Rain Today?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Smelled really smoky too but now, finally, a few drops of rain.

That's why they call it "rainy season" and "dry season"...

Also, hopefully more hydro for the hydroelectric power? How much do we need before we can go back to 24/7 power?

Sure, but last year it began pissing down in March. It's really held off this year.

I don't know, I haven't exactly kept track, but I've never noticed huge differences from year to year. Rain always starts late April or early May. I remember thinking it was really hot maybe three years ago, and they said it was a 60 year record or something (especially for the Tonle Sap). Pretty hot this year too, but I don't think it's put of the ordinary. Like Hanno Said: SEA gets hot in April, big deal.

I personally find the rain a bit of a nuisance. It's fine if you're just sitting at home, but if you need to go somewhere it can be annoying. You get soaked, dirty, etc. If sitting outside in the evening you have to find quick cover or change plans at the last minute. Riding on the highway you can get drenched in a motorbike, sometimes the whole way. I don't feel the excitement I used to when I first came, it's more of an inconvenience now, but hey, so was winter back home. It's all part of the cycle.

It's been raining for weeks in the Cardamoms and other spots. Last year was a crazy rainy season, truly relentless, so those reservoirs will be even drier in the future.

Good solid rain for the last hour here at Takhmau
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Pissing down outside, but tap water? Forget it. Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink.
