First trip to Cambodia in 2005, got fined for having lights on—on my scooter rental, and it was around dinner time, actually starting to get dark. Quite hilarious. Even now, as a resident, my neighbor is constantly telling me to turn off my lights, as I run with them on at all hours for safety.

You cannot stop light on a Benz, and only idiots would obey a stupid law.
Sorry. Slow to reply, cos one has been busy of late.

Let me correct you on one or two points...

Benz. Day time running lights can be set using the on-board configuration wotsit, on many benzes. Ask me how I know. Start by asking if I have a Benz....
Ffs don’t ask me where in the menu it is- I remember turning it on, while bored.

It is/was a stupid law.
The types of people who might ‘obey’ it includes idiots, along with rigidly law abiding folk, people who have forgotten to turn the lights on, folk who’ve become poorer for paying fines for having lights on. Etc. Not all who obey the law are idiots, in the same way that not all who use chopsticks are Asian.

I drive with lights on all the time.
Why?
Many reasons.
I scoff at the law, cos it’s mainly an ass
I’m a bit of a maverick
I think it is a dumb law

But mainly because I Believe it’s safer, and would rather be a breathing, law-breaking maverick, than a law abiding slice of road kill. And if they only get me for the lights, the don’t deserve a pay rise.
