CEO it is francophobe forum ?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Nah, it's banter - each nationality mocks other nationalities as a form of affection.

Except the Americans. We mock them because they're easy targets and they light up like Christmas when you push the right button.

Just so we're clear though, only Australians are allowed to mock New Zealanders, because kiwis are our little kid siblings with special needs. So we Aussies can mock them, but you other mob can't.

I think they do a good job at mocking themselves without outside help.

Most of such banter tends to come from Brits rather than other nationalities, but I've always had more fun making fun of the latter myself.

We used to wind them up by saying how many English words had been stolen by the French such as Cul de Sac, boulevard, bon appétit etc. It was hard to keep a straight face at times.
Good one, and that list is just endless!

Croissant, baguette, brie. All stolen.
Don't get me started with cordon bleu, Beaujolais and filet.
Me, not that other crap.

Other words the French have stolen and pronounce funny include champange, chardonay, merlot, depot, restaurant ... endless... hearing them is like deja vu all over again.

The whole thing is becoming somewhat clichéd. I was saying to my chauffeur just the other day while en route to the office how much faux love there is for the Frogs, nobody really likes them, not even their own mothers. I once bought quite a chic souvenir t-shirt from France with the words "My fiancé went to Paris, and all she bought me was this lousy t-shirt!", clearly an idea stolen from across the channel. Next they'll be saying Bleu d'Auvergne (c.1850) was invented by them rather than just being a second rate Stilton (c.1720) knock-off. Incroyable.

That's my lot on this thread, will revert to just being a voyeur!

You know, French people are just Belgian people who have turned bad, how to blame them?
