Are Chinese (Mainland) classed as expats or is that racist to preclude them?
Not sure if they are classed as expats, but if you go onto the work permit website. a Chinese work permit is for 3 years, for a 'westerner' its one. Is that racism or does money count.
Pleased I have now retired.

Anti Chinese resentment among expats is of no importance, but the resentment rising among Cambodians will become an issue. I don't think most Cambodians will agree with 3.000.000 Chinese in Cambodia.phkachhouk wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2019 5:37 pmThere’s growing anti Chinese resentment among expats, especially ones who’ve been booted out of SHV. Come to think of it there’s been anti Chinese sentiment from as far back as I can remember as a kid. If it’s not about their inferior products (which we keep buying) it’s about their driving or just plain racism or good ol xenophobia.
I remember a case where lead was found in kids toys. One case about 20 years ago and it gets regurgitate on a regular basis.
I’m no Chinese lover but my eyes are wide open (no pun intended) and I could see the writing on the wall a long time ago.
China have been hoarding cash since at least the 70s.

I don’t know. It’s not like they’re the type of people to rise up against oppression is it. They’ve had enough of that.Kammekor wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2019 5:49 pmAnti Chinese resentment among expats is of no importance, but the resentment rising among Cambodians will become an issue. I think the expats would like to think that’s the case but I don’t think they care, especially outside of SIhanoukville.
Let’s wait and see eh.

Ashamed of what?
If you dress and behave well they see you as a normal person.
If you are a alcoholic druggie they´ll see you as that instead. Leave the shame for less well behaved people. I never feel that Cambodians judge allot even if they, as all of us, build up stereotypes depending were a person come from.

Seems to me the Chinese are starting to displace the Vietnamese for the Khmer's scorn.Kammekor wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2019 5:49 pmAnti Chinese resentment among expats is of no importance, but the resentment rising among Cambodians will become an issue. The Cambodian system will not care about how many Chinese there are in the country, as long as the system is collecting money for visa's , work permits and what ever else can be charged .
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

From what I hear on the grapevine anecdotally khmers like the $$$ and development the chinese bring to the country however they don't like the associated loss of sovereignty (perceived or otherwise) that it also brings.

Is that true or an urban myth?
I can’t find anything online. I know Japan can get long visas.

Even if there were 100,000 white devils here that still only amounts to 0.06 of the population.
Tip for white people - stop overstating your own importance, nobody fucking cares.
You're just another pasty-faced knob-head that the average local could buy and sell with little effort,
your sense of superiority has no basis in anything other than your own delusions.

Silence, exile, and cunning.
