Stupidity is not a crime so you are free to go.

Post by The Whisperer »

UK Criminals with dyslexia, low IQs or even psychological problems caused by drug-taking could avoid jail sentences under new guidelines for judges
Courts can go easy on drug-users, officials who set sentencing rules have said
The Sentencing Council now include drug abuse alongside autism and dementia
Officials said drug use must be considered when sentences are handed down.

Something tells me the UK Gov has completely lost the plot.

Yeah yeah Whisperer, The United Nations just did a poll - and everybody on the planet agrees with you that the UK government has completely lost the plot.
But your Number 1 reason for finally waking up to this sad fact, came in at Number 78 on most people's list of reasons.

My God No. 78, stuff me, Brexit was probably up there somewhere. Can you remember what was up at the top?

Not sure W, but this was No 77

#77. The British outsource protection of the British Isles to their invaders
In the early 440s, leaders of the British Isles decided that in order to deal with their many invasions, they would outsource protection of the islands to Anglo-Saxon mercenaries. Unfortunately, when the Anglo-Saxons arrived to “protect” the islands, they quickly realized that the people were defenseless and attempted to take over the British Isles for themselves, resulting in years of violent conflict.

Hey Whisperer, sorting thru all those reasons people gave for why/how/when the UK government completely lost the plot.

This one looks like coming in at No. 76

#76. Winning the World Cup (1966)
This is of course an especially English blunder, one that has inflicted vast misery on it's national game ever since.

It would have been better all round if the English team had never ever been a serious contender for qualification, let alone have a chance of lifting the trophy.
Winning in 1966 created an entirely unrealistic expectation that it could be done again, but all that remains is a four-yearly cycle of heartbreak and despair.

Prison sentences in the UK have been a joke for many years

Criminals need to be removed from the streets and locked up with long sentences to protect society

There are far too many decent innocent people afraid to leave their homes, especially at night, because of the risk they may face

Then the Brits would be accused of acting like the heartless Americans, locking up criminals left and right, keeping large numbers of scum in the prisons, and heaven forbid, executing the worst or the worst. And of course, this must be all Trump’s fault.

Not sure about what's gone wrong with the UK over recent generations. As a kid, I remember murder being an extremely rare event, but now seems to be happening on a daily basis. From being one of the worlds safest places to live its now appears to be heading in the opposite direction.
In 2017-18 there were 285 critical stabbings in the UK and so far this year 51 people have died from knife violence.
Channel 4’s Dispatches revealed there was a 93 percent rise in the number of under-16s being admitted to hospital with stab wounds since 2012.
