This is kinda heavy, even for Thailand

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Tourists 'threatened with death penalty' for taking selfies on beach in Thailand

Image
Airport chiefs have expressed concern about people on a popular beach close to Phuket International Airport distracting pilots
Tourists could face being threatened with the death penalty for taking selfies on a beach near a busy airport in Thailand, according to reports.

The beach close to Phuket International Airport is popular with holidaymakers - but people taking pictures while planes take off have reportedly angered airport bosses who say it could distract pilots.

I’m pretty sure a pilot wouldn’t be able to see them whilst taking off.

Meanwhile, Thailand civil aviation authorities are considered so poor, the FAA this year downgraded it to Tier 2. Again. Evidence? See above.

Not sure how the selfies could distract the pilots, but a kid was located and shaken down a few years ago for using a laser pointer on a plane.

No one is absolved. Boeing very likely accelerated (whistle blowers) the MAX development due to the Airbus NEO release by bypassing certain items, like adding the MCAS stuff to the pilot manuals and making two vital monitoring items as "optional" equipment. They will not be optional now. Boeing guilty as presumed. Boeing is virtually guilty of murder.
