Chinese Drug Factory Found in Raid on Customs Officer's House in Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: On April 02, 2019, police from the Anti-drug Department of the Ministry of the Interior raided a house suspected of being a clandestine drug factory on street 371, Sangkat Ohbek Kaom, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.
A police spokesman said that the raid revealed 200.2kg of drugs, including ketamine, and large quantities of a stimulant drug called Pyrovalerone, which is listed on Table 3 of the Drug Control Law.
Surprisingly, according to the Phnom Penh Post, the owner of the property is the Deputy Chief of Phnom Penh’s Department of Customs and Excise, who had rented the house to a group of Chinese nationals :
The investigation is on-going, with further laboratory testing of substances. The mastermind behind the operation is still being sought by police drug officers.Deputy National Police chief Mok Chito, who is in charge of combating drugs, told The Post on Wednesday that the crackdown was made after the owner of the house, Uy Rasy, who is the deputy chief of Phnom Penh’s general department of customs and excise, became suspicious and contacted the police.
Chito said Rasy had rented the house, located on Street 371 in O’Bek Ka’am commune’s O’Bek Ka’am village, to a group of Chinese nationals. Rasy said he went to inspect his house on Tuesday but no one was inside.
During his visit, an unusual smell caught his attention. Rasy looked through a gap in the door, which was locked from the outside, and saw suspicious equipment and what looked like drugs, Chito said.
He immediately reported the discovery to the police.

Maybe the Chinese just rented his house thinking that its unlikely to be raided considering who the landlord is without him having knowledge.

Am I imagining it, or is there a bit of actual honest-to-goodness housekeeping going on in Bodge at the moment?

The dead rat is a nice touch.
Look at all that lab equipment that had to be schlepped in. Cambodians are nosy and someone would have told him what they saw the Chins getting up to.
The customs guys was probably not passing on a 'taste' of the proceeds to the next guy up in the patronage hierarchy.
I like your positive thinking but I highly doubt it. That's quite a huge operation for a landlord to not know about.

I hope so, but the cynic in me thinks that there is soo much money to be made off Chinese graft, some of the Cambodian minders are just getting sloppy.StroppyChops wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2019 4:46 pm Am I imagining it, or is there a bit of actual honest-to-goodness housekeeping going on in Bodge at the moment?

Silence, exile, and cunning.

I'm sure not a knowledgeable drug guy, but those green pellets sure look like D-con mouse and rat poison.
