Re: Go to place, favourite meal
My favorite meal in the world will be my late Grandma's fried(skillet) Cat Fish. Served with Okra and mashed potatos.
In Phnom Penh @ a place. Just logistically because traffic sux, Orchidee in TTP, lasagne. Every time.

Just finished a takeaway creme caramel from Alma's - best I've had in Bodge.
Had a lunch meeting at Mike's Burger House yesterday, first time there, will definitely not be the last. American-style diner and menu, Mike was working the tables and is a great host.

Or a little later after the rush.keeping_it_riel wrote:+1Mrs Stroppy wrote:I quite like cafe Alma's, it's better if you go a little earlier or later for breakfast or lunch. And no, there's no alcohol served.
Alma, Buffalo Sister and Sesame Noodle are all good lunch options in that part of town. Best to get to Alma at approx 11.45 for lunch ahead of the rush.

Re: Go to place, favourite meal
Last night we went to Chez Gaston which is tucked away in a quiet street behind Psar Kandal. Me, missus KiR and Alex (who used to write front page pieces for K440) and we had a really excellent French bistro meal. It's not cheap as mains are around $12 but its a lovely place to eat if you enjoy eating in a deeply French environment with regulars at the bar sipping pastis, a chalkboard menu and a decent wine list.

Not awful. Very good. But it does require an educated palate, so obviously not ideal for somebody raised on beer, burgers and tacos.

Chez Gaston is good and very moderately priced. La Marmite is also very good and extremely good value.
