Security Camera's
The recent video of the young woman killed on a motor made me thing about this video surveillance thing. There seems to be cameras just about everywhere in KOW, certainly more than in the west.
Is this a good or bad thing?
I know a lot of car drivers now also have cameras pointed forward, and passenger vehicles have a camera on their fare also.
Where in the world could you go without being watched?

It's O.K. I always wanted to be on TV.

Wouldn't say more than the west. The UK is a CCTV heaven, far more then Cambodia.

Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

Begs the question, how many are official Big Brother and how many are just mom and pop.

it is a bad thing if you are a criminal ...
you act like you are from the dark side of the moon.
the entire world is carrying a video camera..
even in podunk towns in kansas there are street light cameras to catch people running lights...
hunters put cameras out in the bush attached to trees to watch game trails...
police are forced to wear cameras to show they are not being abusive..
welcome to 1984...
your PC or laptop is watching you ...
your boss is watching you..
just because you are paranoid does not mean people aren't watching you...
i suggest waving...

Have you lived with the reality of every single thing you do being observed? Lived it with awareness?
When aware, really aware, it is not something to be blase about. There is a reason even the most narcissistic celebrity needs time out from public gaze.
so for introverts it would be torture. For business, it could be crippling. Imagine being watched and listened to in every single act, every conversation, every online transaction, every purchase, every business transaction, every single thing, everything. It ain't all roses. It's perfect for blackmailers, manipulators, control freaks, voyuers, corporate espionage, terrorists, bastards.
It really isn't something to be flippant about when a person with power and money is the one observing. Not when bastards share your intimate details.

Mainland China is CCTV on steroids. Everything you’ve been afraid of, the government is doing over there. CCTV is linked to cell phone records, internet activities, what you’re looking at, who you are speaking to. All part of the social credit system.mcam wrote:Wouldn't say more than the west. Violet - thank goodness the west had a couple of barriers from actively linking all that information together in real time. And hopefully an active mainstream media to prevent it from ever happening.

Not too sure if that is a true fact that there are more here then in the west. But if there is any type of crime committed against you, I would have thought the more camera's the better.
Is this a good or bad thing?
What would you think. If you have nothing to hide, or are not a criminal. I would think it was a good thing.

Understandable having a record for the police. But sadly if your a westerner and involved in a accident and it not being actually to blame, you will probably still pay for something of cost for the Khmer involved or the policeman's time.

Pakistan?
Always "hope" but never "expect".
Re: Security Camera's
Another Post I just started to read of "Cam Nivag" just reminded me! About the camera in the cars. Not the camera, but the "Westerner" That would be one of the only times the involved Khmer would not be running a marathon.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
